I always wondered what happened to the vocalist Jewel from the ’90s. Every now and then when I’m wasting time washing dishes, songs pop into my head. This one was there in a flash and I started singing. My 12yo son walked into the kitchen, grabbed the fresh, warm chocolate chip cookies and stopped. “Wow, Mom. You sound good.”
Funny. You should hear Jewel.
It’s songs like these that helps us heal because they purge the poison from our mental coffers. Picture yourself singing it at night in the car with the windows down, wind whipping through your hair, all independent and strong after a breakup.
This is actually not the version that I like the most. The real version – as I call it – was on a single cassette from the ’90s. But this will do just fine.
